Team History - Martlesham Mustangs

The Mustangs were formed in the November of the 2001/2 season as an Under 9 side and played only friendlies that season.

The following season, 2002/3 they played in the Felixstowe and District Junior Football League at U10’s with the A’s finishing 5th and the B’s finishing 7th.

The 2003/04 season saw both teams playing in the enlarged Division 1 with the A’s finishing 7th and the B’s finishing 8th. A successful second season was capped with both sides making it to the Plate Semi-finals - unfortunately they played each other. The A’s made it to the Final where they beat Holbrook B 2 – 1 and won their first piece of silverware.

The 2004/05 season was a tough one with the team finishing just above the relegation places. A bright note for the season saw the team reach the Cup Final where they ended as Runners-Up having lost 6-4.

The 2005/6 season was extremely tough. Unfortunately the team were relegated.

The 2006/7 season saw a mixed bag of results. The highlight of the season was a draw against table topping Kirton – the only points they dropped all season. The team ended up finishing 9th in the league. A more pleasing season saw the boys competing well in every match and playing some eye catching football.

Looking forward to the 2007/8 season, a top half finish and pushing for promotion is the aim.
