Team History

Martlesham Bombers were formed in June 2004.
The management believe in giving every squad member an equal chance, which we are sure, has helped to build a good team spirit in such a short time. The squad enjoys strong support from parents and friends each week.

Season Summary (2009/10)

At the beginning of the season our aim was to finish in the top half of the division and maybe challenge for promotion. With 5 games still to play at the beginning of May we were not only in with a chance of promotion but with our games in hand we could win the league. Unfortunately we lost against our closest rivals Woodbridge and handed them the championship. In the end disappointing, but this was our most successful season since the team was formed 6 years ago, and probably the most satisfying for the coaching team.

During the season we only dropped 10 points with losses against Woodbridge (champions) and Sutton Heath (3rd) and draws against Woodbridge and our local rivals Kesgrave.

The highlight was our re-arranged evening fixture away to Kesgrave where it appeared that half of year 10 had turned out to watch the game. The 2-4 victory to “The Bombers” flattered us in what was a real end to end game; it was only our superior finishing that really made the difference.

The season finale saw us play away to Rickinghall where we scored our 100th goal.
