U17/U18Team DetailsManager: Steve Henry Home pitch location: Gainsborough Sports Centre, Ipswich Season Summary 2009/10Congratulations to Neil Hewitt, Dan and the squad for a remarkable Under 18's season, 2009-10 - not only winning the League and Cup double but also being unbeaten throughout and notching over 100 League and Cup goals! Thanks, also, from all at the Club to Bruce Copping who, after 9 years as a Manager, has stepped down, having finished his marathon stint with the Under 17's last season. We wish Bruce a happy retirement from management and hope his newly found freedom will help give strength to the other sporting love in his life, Ipswich Witches, and help them rise up the Elite League table! The Coming SeasonThis season, with a new Manager in Steve Henry and several of last year's squad no longer eligible for youth football, the new squad aspires to emulate the feat of last season's team but, of course, that is a very hard act to follow indeed!Steve is an F.A Level 2 Coach and is delighted to have been able to keep all 5 of last season's squad who are still eligible, bring in at least 3 from Bruce Copping's last season Under 17's team and increase the squad to 14 (and looking to increase further, any budding Ronaldo's or Carvalho's out there) with some quality lads, several of whom are playing Ridgeon's Under 18's midweek, plus some other good lads who have come in, hungry to try repeat last year's success under Neil and Dan. Of the current 14 squad members, no less than 10 have worn the Martlesham shirt on previous occasions. MYFC Under 18's have a few pre-season friendlies over the next few weeks and invite trialists to come and join us for these games - positions to be filled being 1 striker and 1 central defender plus possibly a right back. Please contact Steve on 07798 877688 to arrange. Whatever happens this coming season, Steve assures his squad that he will do all he can to ensure they enjoy their football and come out the other end as improved players.
