The Thunderbolts, MYFC under 9's are a team of local children coached and well supported by parents. We play in the Felixstowe and District League (if you use the links below you can see how well we have been doing).
MYFC Thunderbolts have two teams, this year we have split these into an A team and B team to suit the competition that exists in the league.

As a team we take a proud stance on building teamwork and focus heavily on fair play. When developing a team of children at this age we believe that it is important to encourage all the youngsters to take part and help them learn and improve with their peers.

That does not mean that we are not competitive, anyone with a child of this age will truly understand that football can be the centre of his or her universe. With four coaches we are in a unique position, our team benefit from a range of coaching styles that, together, compliment each other to provide a well-rounded experience for the team. We encourage mixed abilities and provide a supportive experience for these youngsters.
The coaches, trained to Football Association standards, stay with the same group as they advance in age (because our own children are in the teams). As they get older our plan is to develop skills, awareness and competitiveness.
As a coaching team we often receive compliments from the parents of other teams on our style and approach to games. At this age it is not all about winning - mind you we do like to win!

For the last year the team has been coached and managed by Matthew James, Jonny Driver, Julian Evans and Ian Seeley.

Team Sponsor

We are extremely fortunate to get sponsorship from Ipswich Borough Council Passenger Transport Department that run the Park and Ride facility at Martlesham and as a result bought a fantastic football kit and training tops for the team. This brought a great lift to the boys and they take great pride in training in them.
We thank the council for sponsoring us.
